How long have you been developing software?
Our chief developer has been developing maths and engineering software since 1981. Parts of the software used in our currently available software are based on libraries developed since 1993.

It is important to realize however, that there is more to knowing how to develop software than just the time or experience. Here are some other questions to ask yourself when purchasing software:

  2. Has the developer actually derived algorithms and understands such algorithms in depth?
  3. Does the developer have sufficient mathematical background do understand how to properly code mathematical algorithms?
  4. Does the developer have an appreciation of robustness, computational efficiency and memory issues?
  5. Does the developer know how to benchmark and test algorithms?
  6. Does the developer know how to exhaustively test the implementation to ensure that it actually works the way it should and is faithful to the original algorithm?
  7. Does the developer know how to use extensive bug catching methodologies so that bugs are minimized or eliminated from the production code?
  8. What algorithm is being used to solve the problem? Did the developer benchmark and test or do any research to select the best possible algorithm for the task?
  9. What qualifications do they developers actually have? Are you trusting important applications to code writers with unknown or uncertain abilities and qualifications?
  10. Are you able to reach the software developer directly to obtain assistance?
  11. Is the company responsive in assisting clients to use their software?
  12. Are you confident in the developers capabilities to deliver high quality, fast and yet robust software?
  13. Are you basing your decision for important software on price only?
  14. Does the company provide additional consulting support if required?
  15. Does the company provide a money back guarantee, based on their confidence in the software developed?
These are just some of the questions that we recommend you keep in mind when selecting very complex software such as the mathematical components we provide. While in some cases there may be cheaper alternatives, we caution the potential buyer to take care with their selection, because it can be false economy to make a selection on cost alone. Hence consider the factors above before making your decision.
